We begin scheduling clients for fishing just after "Ice Out" which usually occurs in April, trolling for landlocked Salmon from our traditional 20' GrandLaker Canoes. We use leadline rods with either streamers or smelt, sometimes we also use a flyrod and a single hook streamerfly. Fished just behind the boat is just the trick to catch theses early fish.
It's common knowledge up here that in the spring, just after ice out is one of the most productive times of the year to fish for Landlocked Salmon and Togue (Lake Trout) in this area.
Spring time is also the perfect time to fish the local streams and tributaries for Brook Trout.
Guided fishing trips on the Famous Grand Lake Stream for Landlocked Salmon between West Grand Lake and Big Lake is offered throughout the fishing season.
Knowing which pools to fish and which flies to use at any given time can help you get the most out of your day on Grand Lake Stream. Next on the agenda, as the water starts to warm up and the SmallMouth Bass begin to move into shallow waters, many people are eager to come to this area, hire a Guide with a boat and head out on to the lakes for a great day of Smallmouth Bass Fishing.
Traditionally a shore lunch is prepared by the guide as part of the day events.
