Recreational Services of the Grand Lake Stream Area

The Grand Lake Region, with its numerous lakes, ponds and river is nothing short of paradise for the outdoor enthusiast.

For the Guided day Canoe trips, Guided Sightseeing trips, or the Guided Photography trips in the Grand Lakes region. Most of the time we use a 20ft Grand Laker Canoe powered by an outboard motor. Some locations require a smaller canoe. Our goal is for you to view nature in its purest form; some of the things that have been seen in the past are Moose, Loons, Osprey, Bald Eagles, Bears, Whitetail deer. Lots of beautiful nature that is unspoiled. The ultimate goal is for you to escape and relax in a world that few have the opportunity to experience.

The Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge is comprised of two units. One, at Baring just three miles north of Calais , has 16,080 acres. The other, at Edmunds between Whiting and Dennysville, is 6,665 acres in size. The Refuge offers its visitors more than 50 miles of roads and trail hiking in Maine which are closed to vehicle traffic, but open to hiking, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. The Refuge is a breeding ground for migratory birds and other wildlife including the bald eagle, osprey, Canada geese, and ducks. The American woodcock is studied and managed here.

The Petit Manan National Wildlife Refuge: Petit Manan is a noted Maine bird watching area for many species of seabirds, shorebirds, songbirds, waterfowl and the endangered bald eagle, peregrine falcon, and roseate tern. More than 250 birds have been identified in this 3,335-acre refuge complex on the eastern Maine coast.

Petit Manan has a rugged, windblown character with a variety of habitats including spruce and mixed hardwood forests, jack pine stands, cedar swamps, raised heath wetlands, blueberry barrens and fresh and saltwater marshes.
